KAKADU SHORT CIRCLE

Apr 20 - May 3, 2008

Fast way into the pool
  • Our most leisurely circle walk. Plenty of time for swimming, relazing and enjoying the natural world around you.
  • The only tour that takes you to some of the little known areas along the upper reaches of Koolpin Creek.
  • More than a walk. It's a wonderful experience you'll never forget.

Our walk begins in southern Kakadu and takes us through spectacular Koolpin Gorge with its many waterfalls and Aboriginal art sites. We continue to follow Koolpin Creek and its tributaries for several days stopping visit some of the many Aboriginal art sites and swim in some of the many pools along the way.

From Koolpin, we cross over to the Graveside system with its many beautiful pools, cascades and the best natural waterslide we have found on any of our trips.

Walking through Cascades Creek Gorge It's easier than it looks

From Graveside, we go overland to the Barramundi Creek system with yet more pools and waterfalls.

From Barramundi, we do a climb up and over a ridge to the headwaters of Waterfall Creek which we follow down to Gunlom site of the waterfall scene in the original Crocodile Dundee movie. At Gunlom, a bus picks us up and takes us to the Cooinda resort where we do a wetlands cruise on Yellow Waters before going to Jabiru for a final night before returning to Darwin the following morning.

Terrain and difficulty. This is one of the most leisurely trips we offer in Kakadu. The schedule allows most groups to get into camp early or have long breaks during the day.

However, once you start, you are in to the finish. There is no vehicular access anywhere along the route.

Some sections of the walk are fairly flat and relatively easy. Others involve considerable rock hopping and are moderately difficult. There are a few steep climbs but these are short and over relatively quickly for most groups.

To take part you need good fitness and a sense of adventure.

Your rewards are waterfalls, wildflowers and an incredible Kakadu wilderness experience no other operator can offer you.
