The Charnley River and the Munja Track

Charnley Gorge campsite The Charnley is one of the most spectacular but least accessible rivers in the Kimberley. The lower section flows through about 30 km of continuous gorge. There is a wealth of Aboriginal art in a variety of styles showing that this has been a special place for thousands of years.
The rough, 220 km, four wheel drive Munja Track comes within a day's walk of the Charnley Gorge. This is closer than any other track gets. The track is a private road with limited access. It passes through such interesting country that we offer two different two week trips along it. On one, you camp near the vehicle at night and never carry more than a day pack. On the other, you do a series of relatively short walks of up to four days. Fording a creek on the Munja Track
